~ As Sound Transit faces challenges with budget shortfalls and potential delays, Tacoma City Council Member and Sound Transit Board Member Kristina Walker is urging regional leaders to prioritize the needs of the South Sound.
During the City Council Study Session on Tuesday, March 31, Council Member Walker will lead a crucial conversation about the future of the Tacoma Dome Link Extension and Tacoma's transit priorities. This comes after recent discussions at the Sound Transit Board level revealed significant funding gaps, leading to debates over cost-cutting measures and project prioritization.
Council Member Walker plans to update both the Council and the public on these developments during Tuesday's session. She will stress the importance of subarea equity and timely completion of the regional light rail "spine" to Tacoma.
