Applicants Sought for Bicycle Pedestrian Technical Advisory Group

The City of Tacoma is seeking four new members for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Technical Advisory Group (BPTAG) – two adult positions, one youth position (age 16-18), and one alternate (youth or adult).

This group focuses on making it safer and easier to use active transportation in Tacoma, which includes walking, using an assistive mobility device, bicycling, skating, and riding a skateboard or scooter. BPTAG members must live in Tacoma, and terms are three years for adults, one year for youth, and are renewable.

Members of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Technical Advisory Group play an essential role in:
  • Prioritizing new bicycle and pedestrian projects throughout Tacoma.
  • Providing feedback on the design of active transportation projects.
  • Developing new policies to improve active transportation safety and access.
  • Giving input on active transportation programs and events.
  • Bringing community concerns to the attention of City staff and leaders.

Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month from 5:30-7:30 PM and are currently being held virtually. When in-person meetings resume, the meetings are anticipated to be hybrid, so commissioners can choose to attend virtually or in person at the Tacoma Municipal Building (747 Market St.).
