~ The City of Tacoma's Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC) has announced that they are now accepting applications for funding to support public-benefiting special events in 2026. This marks the fifth year that applicants will have the opportunity to compete for funding for community events, as well as the second year that event organizers can apply for non-monetary support through the City Event Services program.

CERC, a council-appointed group of community members, will serve as the review and selection panel for these applications. They will evaluate each applicant based on merit, capacity, and community impact, as well as how their event promotes access, opportunity, and belonging.

In 2025, CERC awarded a total of $90,000 in funding to 26 organizations to help produce special events that enriched Tacoma's communities. This funding is made possible by revenue generated from events at the Tacoma Dome and Greater Tacoma Convention Center, which is then reinvested back into the community through TVE (Tacoma Venues & Events).

The City Event Services program offers access to City of Tacoma services and non-monetary support for community special events that benefit the city's diverse communities. More information about this program can be found on the Tacoma Venues & Events website.

Applications for events to be produced in 2026 will be accepted from now until October 21, 2025. Full guidelines and the funding application can be found on tacomavenues.org. During this application period, staff will be available to assist prospective applicants in preparing their submissions. Additionally, informational virtual Q&A sessions will be held on September 30 at 3pm and October 10 at 11am.

For those who need further assistance or have questions about the application process, staff members are available for one-on-one consultations. Translation services are also available upon request by visiting the Tacoma Venues & Events website.

To help event organizers plan and produce successful events in Tacoma, Tacoma Venues & Events offers SkillShops, a free workshop series. These recorded sessions are available online and cover topics such as permitting, event safety, fundraising, sponsorship, budgeting, and access and belonging. Upcoming SkillShops include event marketing on October 20 and a session in November focused on volunteers. "SkillShops Live!" will also be offered in early 2026.

With the support of CERC and TVE, the City of Tacoma is committed to promoting and funding community events that bring people together and enrich the city's diverse communities. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply for funding or take advantage of the resources available through the City Event Services program and SkillShops workshops.
