Assent has unveiled an EPR Packaging solution. Assent Inc.
Assent partners with Lorax EPI to streamline supplier data and reporting to ensure compliance with California SB54, Canada's Plastics Registry, and other fast-approaching EPR laws

OTTAWA, Ontario - Washingtoner -- Assent Inc. (Assent), the global leader in supply chain sustainability management, today announced its new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Packaging solution. The new solution helps manufacturers collect and manage packaging data, making it easier to comply with complex reporting requirements under expanding EPR packaging laws.

Assent has partnered with Lorax EPI to deliver the full workflow solution for EPR packaging requirements, combining supplier data collection and jurisdiction-specific reporting files and fee calculations, bringing packaging data into a single coordinated program. Through this partnership, customers gain visibility into fees, and cost-saving design opportunities.

EPR regulations shift the cost and responsibility of end-of-life packaging management from governments to the companies placing packaged products on the market. In the U.S. and Canada, manufacturers now face reporting requirements that vary widely by jurisdiction. These include state-level EPR laws such as California's SB54, Oregon's SB582, Colorado's HB22-1355, and Minnesota's HF3911, as well as Canada's Federal Plastics Registry, which requires its first filings by September 29, 2025.

North American manufacturers face unique challenges with EPR regulations and companies must rapidly prepare for deadlines across multiple jurisdictions. Without scalable supplier engagement, fragmented data collection leads to costly reporting errors, potential production disruptions, fines, and reputational risk.

"Manufacturers are beginning to confront the full weight of EPR obligations, and they're already feeling the strain of fragmented requirements, supplier engagement challenges, and looming deadlines across North America," said Catherine Cormier, Chief Product Officer at Assent. "Assent's end-to-end solution in partnership with Lorax EPI helps manufacturers proactively take control of supplier engagement, cut costs, and stay compliant with confidence."

Assent's EPR Packaging solution helps companies:
  • Engage suppliers at scale to collect packaging component data—such as weights, materials, and recycled content attributes—through multilingual outreach and reminders.
  • Validate data and close gaps through guided workflows, ensuring higher completeness and audit-defensible reporting.
  • Generate jurisdiction-ready outputs aligned with state, provincial, and federal requirements, including eco-modulated fee calculations where applicable.
  • Minimize long-term risk by proactively increasing visibility and engagement into sustainability strategies.

This solution builds on Assent's Supply Chain Sustainability Platform, trusted by manufacturers globally for compliance, product sustainability, and responsible sourcing. As EPR regulations accelerate, Assent equips companies with the tools to manage complex reporting now and adapt as new rules take effect.
