Spokane: Search Warrant Uncovers Guns, Drugs, Money and Explosives

~ A recent search warrant served by members of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in the 2600 block of North Freya has resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, money, firearms, and explosives. According to Officer Daniel Strassenberg, Public Information Officer for the SIU, the explosives found during the search included a foreign military hand grenade, a training bomblet from a cluster bomb, and a modified firework.

Due to the dangerous nature of these items, members of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EDU) were called in to safely remove them. The EDU later rendered the items safe at a separate location. Along with the explosives, $255,000 in cash, 63 firearms (three of which were reported stolen), one pound of fentanyl powder, and approximately five pounds of methamphetamine were taken into evidence.

The SIU is continuing their investigation and criminal charges are pending. Photos related to this case have also been released by authorities.
