Julie Humphreys, 509 ~ On the evening of April 9th, a tragic incident occurred on West Sunset Frontage Road and South Grove Road in Spokane. At around 7:15pm, officers from the Spokane Police Department responded to reports of a possible deceased person on the side of the road. Upon arrival, they discovered a partially clothed male who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle and thrown into a nearby fence.

The Major Crimes collision investigators and detectives were immediately called to the scene to begin their investigation. It was determined that the victim had been hit by a vehicle, which was later identified as belonging to him. However, at that time, officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Shortly after the discovery of the deceased male, multiple witnesses called 911 reporting a truck driving recklessly on Highway 2 in Airway Heights. Thanks to these witness reports, detectives were able to identify the reckless vehicle and through further investigation, it was determined that the owner of the truck was also the deceased male.

As investigators continued their work at the scene, deputies from Lincoln County Sheriff's Office were alerted to the same truck by a concerned citizen who reported a possible impaired driver. The driver fled from deputies and after a short pursuit, she was taken into custody. The driver was identified as Alyssa K. Bray (27) and she was booked into Lincoln County Jail for DUI and Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle.

Through further investigation, it was revealed that Bray had accepted a ride from the victim while walking on Sunset Highway. However, she then took possession of his vehicle and intentionally struck him with it. On April 16th, detectives traveled to Lincoln County and arrested Bray for 1st Degree Murder. She was transported back to Spokane and booked into Spokane County Jail.

The victim has been identified as Gerald R. Fox (70) by the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office.

This case proved to be complex as it unfolded rapidly over a large geographical area. The cooperation and willingness of concerned citizens to report dangerous and suspicious behavior played a crucial role in allowing investigators to make a timely arrest in this incident.

The Spokane Police Department urges anyone with information about this case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. They also extend their condolences to the family and friends of Gerald R. Fox during this difficult time.
