~ On the evening of December 17, 2025, a potentially dangerous situation was diffused by the Spokane Police Department. A concerned citizen called 911 at 6:30 p.m. to report that a male, identified as Arthur Chambers, was at a residence in the 2700 block of East 39th and was asking for a gun.
The caller, who had retrieved several guns from the home and left with her daughter, expressed concern for Chambers' behavior. It was later discovered that Chambers was already a suspect in a firearm theft incident that occurred on December 13th and detectives were actively searching for him.
According to Officer Daniel Strassenberg, PIO for the Spokane Police Department, information obtained during both incidents indicated that Chambers was acting erratically. Due to safety concerns and the fact that there was still one firearm inside the residence, multiple specialty units were dispatched to the scene. These included SWAT, K9, Hostage Negotiators and the Air Support Unit.

After surrounding the home and making repeated attempts to establish communication with Chambers, he finally walked out of the residence at approximately 9:30 p.m. and surrendered peacefully to officers. The 41-year-old suspect was taken into custody and booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Unlawful Possession of Firearm and 1st Degree Criminal Trespass.
In addition to these charges, Chambers is also being held on a detainer issued by the Washington State Department of Corrections. Officer Strassenberg commended the combined efforts of all officers present and involved specialty units for their role in ensuring a peaceful outcome in this matter.
Images released by the Spokane Police Department show their vehicle at the scene of the incident. This successful resolution serves as an example of how law enforcement agencies work together to protect their community from potential harm.
