The Billboard Top 10 Artist and Filmmaker achieves the highest academic credential in the musical arts at Graham International University (GIU)

FARO, Portugal - Washingtoner -- Independent music icon and filmmaker Oliver Sean Alvares, known professionally as Oliver Sean, has been officially conferred the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from Graham International University (GIU). This professional doctorate marks a defining academic milestone for the multiple Billboard Top 10 artist, following a multi-year period of advanced research and performance practice.

While already a prominent figure in the global music scene and a recipient of several honorary doctorates, this earned DMA solidifies Dr. Sean's standing as a scholar-practitioner. The achievement highlights a career-long commitment to bridging the gap between commercial entertainment success and high-level musicology.

"Completing the DMA has been a deeply personal and rewarding journey," says Dr. Oliver Sean. "In this industry, we often focus on the immediate impact of a song or a film, but this process allowed me to honor the academic foundations of my craft. I am incredibly grateful to the faculty and the entire team at Graham International University for their guidance. I would also like to extend a personal thank you to the GIU President, Dr. Frankie Graham Jr., for his unwavering support throughout this process. I am proud to bring this level of scholarly depth back to my work with the WOA Entertainment Group and the independent artists we represent."

A Foundation of Excellence

Dr. Sean's doctoral degree is underpinned by a robust academic history. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Economics and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) specializing in Coaching, Mentorship, and Leadership. This unique combination of economic, leadership, and musical credentials has been the driving force behind the sustained success of his global label and distribution network.
