~ A fire that broke out in the early hours of November 9 has caused significant damage to a City of Tacoma facility located on the 1200 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. According to reports, the fire has resulted in a severed fiber optic connection, affecting several Public, Educational, and Government (PEG) channels.
Subscribers of TV Tacoma, CityPost, Tacoma Public Schools, Pierce County TV, University Place TV, and Bates Technical College TV have reported being unable to access these channels on both Comcast (Xfinity) and LightCurve (Rainier Connect) networks.

In addition to the PEG channels, the City's internal data network infrastructure known as CityNet has also been impacted by the fiber damage. While the network is still operational, City staff have lost diagnostic visibility from this location and are currently assessing potential service interruptions.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Updates will be provided on the City's official social media platforms as more information becomes available.
