~ Tacoma, Wash - The City of Tacoma is inviting community members to participate in shaping the future of their city through the One Tacoma: Shared Vision, Shared Future initiative. This initiative aims to gather ideas and perspectives from residents to inform the city's long-term outlook and strategic vision for the next 10 years and beyond.
Mayor Victoria Woodards expressed her excitement about this initiative, stating, "Through our One Tacoma: Shared Vision, Shared Future initiative, we're revolutionizing the way we engage our community members to ensure that the decisions that shape numerous aspects of Tacoma over the next decade are community informed." She also emphasized the importance of meeting community members where they are and making it easy for everyone to share their perspectives.
The One Tacoma: Shared Vision, Shared Future initiative involves staff from various city departments and offices coming together to host a series of in-person workshop events and an online Ideas Wall. These platforms will allow community members to share their ideas and perspectives on how Tacoma should grow and evolve in the coming years. The gathered input will inform several long-range planning documents, funding decisions, and strategic programs such as the 10-Year Strategic Plan, Comprehensive Plan, Transportation Master Plan, Community Safety Action Strategy, 2025-2026 Biennial Budget, and Participatory Budgeting for District 2.

The first four in-person workshops will take place in May at different locations throughout Tacoma. These workshops will feature interactive stations focused on a wide range of topics such as historic preservation, community safety, economic development, and more. There will also be opportunities for participants of all ages to creatively express their vision for Tacoma's future through images and visual interpretations.
The dates and locations for four additional workshops in June will be announced soon. All One Tacoma events are open-house style and family-friendly with light refreshments provided.
For those unable to attend an in-person event in May or June, an Ideas Wall is available on the One Tacoma engagement webpage until the end of July.
