~ Tacoma, Wash. - The city of Tacoma will be honoring the life and legacy of Council Member Catherine Ushka with a Celebration of Life event on May 23, 2024 at the Eastside Community Center. The event, which is open to all community members, will begin at 2:30 PM with doors opening at 2 PM.
Council Member Ushka, who passed away on May 16, 2024, was a beloved member of the Tacoma community and her contributions will be remembered by all who knew her. In honor of her memory and dedication to the city, flags across all City of Tacoma facilities will be lowered to half-staff from May 21 to May 25.

The service will be followed by a community reception and will also be streamed live on Facebook by the City of Tacoma for those unable to attend in person. However, there will be no individual media opportunities at this event.
In lieu of flowers, Council Member Ushka's family has requested that donations be made to two organizations close to her heart - the Oasis Youth Center and the Making a Difference Foundation/Eloise's Cooking Pot Food Bank.
The city encourages all community members to come together and celebrate the life of Council Member Ushka as she will always hold a special place in the hearts of those in Tacoma.
