MENLO PARK, Calif. - Washingtoner -- OrionX Research today announced the appointment of Adrian Cockcroft as Partner and Analyst. Mr. Cockcroft was most recently a Vice President at Amazon Web Services. Highly respected in the IT industry, he is a frequent keynote speaker and well known as the cloud architect for Netflix during its trailblazing migration to AWS, an early practitioner and advocate of DevOps, microservices, and chaos engineering, and a pioneer of sustainability practices for enterprise and public sector customers.

"It is exciting and a natural next step for me to look at a broad set of emerging technologies, understand real use cases and how those trends influence each other, and translate that to business strategy and market execution," said Adrian Cockcroft, Partner and Analyst at OrionX. "My initial work will be in general technology advice on the state of the art in development practices, HPC/AI and Cloud, and monitoring and measuring carbon."

Mr. Cockcroft was a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems and wrote the Sun Performance and Tuning book that can still be found on many technologist's bookshelves. He was a Founding member of eBay Labs, Director of Web Engineering and Cloud Architect at Netflix, and Technology Fellow at Battery Ventures. As vice president at AWS and Amazon Sustainability Architecture he led the process of joining, and represented Amazon on, the board of both the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and the Open Source Climate foundation (OS-Climate).

Adrian was previously an independent board member for European consulting firm Trifork, and while at Sun, helped form the Enterprise Grid Alliance. He has been a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) since 2016, with past advisory positions that include  DeepDyve, Liquid Robotics (acquired by Boeing), Apcera (acquired by Ericsson), Ayla Networks, NGINX (acquired by F5), Docker, Instana (acquired by IBM), and Gremlin.
