Tacoma: Homicide Investigation – 700 South 38th Street

On October 17, 2025, at approximately 9:47 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of South 38th Street for reports of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers learned that an ex-boyfriend was holding his ex-girlfriend hostage.

Officers surrounded the location and began initial negotiations while additional resources responded to the scene. The Tacoma Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team was called in, and negotiations continued for several hours.

Just after 1:00 a.m., SWAT officers made entry and located an adult male and female with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began lifesaving measures until Tacoma Fire Department personnel arrived. Both individuals were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Despite receiving medical care, both later died from their injuries.

Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians responded and are investigating this incident as a homicide-suicide.
