~ The Tacoma City Council is currently on the lookout for individuals to fill five vacant positions on the Human Services Commission. These positions include four member positions and one Emerging Leader position, specifically for individuals between the ages of 16 and 24.
The Human Services Commission plays a crucial role in reviewing competitive funding applications, evaluating project proposals, and making recommendations for human services funding. Additionally, the Commission serves as a valuable resource to both the City Council and City staff in implementing programs related to human services and community wellness.
Comprised of 15 members, the Commission operates on three-year terms, with the exception of the Emerging Leader position which has a one-year term. The City of Tacoma is dedicated to promoting an equitable and anti-racist community and aims to have its committees, boards, and commissions reflect the diversity of Tacoma's population. As such, all individuals are encouraged to apply for these vacancies, including BIPOC individuals, LGBTQ+ individuals, those with disabilities, seniors, youth, immigrants, refugees, and those who have benefited from human services programs such as homelessness or household stability programs.
