~ Spokane Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment near Pacific and Division on December 1st, 2025 at 3:17am. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. Despite their immediate efforts to save his life, the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to a local hospital.
Several witnesses were contacted at the scene and provided information that led officers to identify the suspect, who had fled before their arrival. The Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Unit took over the investigation and began searching for the murder suspect.

Later that evening, SPD received information that the suspect may be located in an apartment in the 500 block of West Sprague Avenue. Officers responded to the location and with a search warrant, entered the apartment and apprehended the suspect without incident. Randy R. Chaparro (33) was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for 2nd Degree Murder, as well as for a felony warrant issued by the Department of Corrections for probation violations.
