~ Spokane, WA - As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the city of Spokane is preparing for closures and cancellations at various facilities. According to Erin Hut, Communications Director for the city, Spokane City Hall and other city facilities will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27th and 28th.
In addition to these closures, there will be changes in garbage, recycling, and food & yard waste collection for customers with Thursday and Friday collection days. Due to the holiday, these services will be delayed by one day. Thursday routes will be completed on Friday, November 28th and Friday routes will be completed on Saturday, November 29th.
Parking meters and kiosks on the streets will not require payment on Thanksgiving Day. However, it is important to note that all parking rules still apply even when parking is free on holidays.
The Spokane Public Library locations will also be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27th and 28th. The Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will also observe the holiday closure.

For those in need of assistance from Spokane 311 or Development Services Center employees, please note that they will not be available for in-person, phone or online inquiries on Thursday and Friday. However, the public can access Spokane311.org 24 hours a day and messages will be responded to on the next business day.
The Waste-to-Energy Facility recycling and disposal site will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day but open during regular operating hours for the rest of the week.
While attractions in Riverfront Park will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, they will remain open for the rest of the week. The Numerica Tree Lighting Celebration in Riverfront Park is scheduled for Saturday, November 29th at 6 p.m., with festivities starting at 4 p.m. Residents are encouraged to join in as they count down to light their community tree while enjoying ice skating and hot cocoa.
For those looking for other activities during the holiday weekend, the Downtown Spokane Partnership's Event Calendar and Visit Spokane calendar offer a variety of options.
