Spokane: 3rd suspect from 2022 homicide pleads guilty to 1st Degree Murder, sentencing set for February 14th

~ On January 31st, 2025, Randy E. Slone (30) was sentenced to 36 years in prison after pleading guilty to 1st Degree Murder, Unlawful Imprisonment, and gun charges. This comes after his involvement in the death of Andy Hernandez on October 23rd, 2022.

Hernandez's body was discovered on a walking trail in West Spokane by a passer-by. The SPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded to the scene and launched an investigation into the incident. Through their diligent efforts, it was revealed that three suspects were involved in the murder.

John Birgen had previously pled guilty to 1st Degree Murder, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on January 9th. He was sentenced to over 39 years in prison for his role in Hernandez's death.

Larren Parker also pled guilty for her involvement in the murder. She admitted to 2nd Degree Murder and conspiracy to commit 1st Degree Kidnapping in May of 2024. Her sentencing is set for February 14th.

The sentencing of all three suspects brings closure to the case and justice for the senseless death of Andy Hernandez. Officer Daniel Strassenberg from the Public Information Office expressed relief that justice has been served for Hernandez's family and loved ones. The community can now find solace knowing that those responsible have been held accountable for their actions.
