SEATTLE, July 29, 2025 ~ Seattle-based fashion retailer Nordstrom, Inc. has announced its plans to expand its presence in California with the opening of a new Nordstrom Rack store in Encinitas in spring 2026. The 24,000-square-foot store will be located at El Camino Promenade, a popular shopping center that already houses well-known brands such as TJ Maxx, Bevo, Five Below and Dollar Tree.
Gemma Lionello, President of Nordstrom Rack, expressed her excitement about the company's expansion into the Encinitas community. "We look forward to being a part of the Encinitas community and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices," she said. "We're excited to grow our footprint in the San Diego market and introduce new customers to the Nordstrom experience."
The new store will offer convenient services such as online order pick up from both Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com, as well as easy returns for customers. This location is strategically chosen to cater to the needs of North County shoppers.
Genevieve Anderson, Property Manager at Kimco Realty which owns and operates El Camino Promenade, also expressed her enthusiasm for welcoming Nordstrom Rack to their shopping center. "As one of the most recognized names in fashion retail, Nordstrom Rack is a perfect complement to our diverse tenant mix and reflects our continued commitment to bringing quality, convenience, and style to North County shoppers," she said.

Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, Inc. and plays a critical role in the company's Closer to You strategy. This strategy focuses on delivering customers a more convenient and interconnected experience across its stores and digital platforms. Customers can expect up to 70 percent off on-trend apparel, accessories, beauty products, home decor and shoes from many top brands sold at Nordstrom stores.
With this new location in Encinitas, Nordstrom is expanding its physical footprint and economic impact in California. The company currently operates 26 Nordstrom stores and 68 Nordstrom Rack stores in the state, providing over 12,800 jobs.
Nordstrom is also committed to investing in the communities where it operates. Over the past four years, the company has donated more than $2 million to support its long-term partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the United States. These funds go towards recruiting, training, and engaging adult mentors for mentorship moments between Bigs and Littles.
