Organized by Tobu Railway Group and the Nikko Natural Science Museum, the "Lakeside Picnic Ride" combines bicycle rentals with a takeout menu from the Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel, making it easy for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts to cycle along the shores of Lake Chuzenji enjoying light snacks on the way.

NIKKO, Japan - Washingtoner -- The northern, mountainous area of Nikko, often called "Deep Nikko" or Oku-Nikko, is one of Japan's premier tourist destinations. With natural attractions, such as Lake Chuzenji, Kegon Falls, and Mount Nantai, the area offers four seasons of scenic beauty. With the new "Lakeside Picnic Ride" package, visitors can rent a bicycle (reservation required) at the Nikko Natural Science Museum located adjacent to the Chuzenji Onsen Bus Terminal. From there, they can leisurely cycle along the shores of Lake Chuzenji, the highest altitude lake in Japan. During their pleasureful cycling journey, they can pick up a takeout meal at the "Coffee House Yukon" at the Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel and then enjoy a picnic -- at locations such as the Lake Chuzenji Boat House - while gazing out at the lake.

This initiative aims to encourage visitors to explore the area through cycling and proposes a new way to experience the natural beauty of the region through all five senses. By presenting the natural lakeside space as a place for dining and relaxation, Tobu has created an opportunity for visitors to spend more leisure time amongst nature. And, when visitors extend their stay in the natural environment, their overall experience satisfaction improves. Additionally, by effectively utilizing existing resources, such as the Lake Chuzenji Boathouse, mobility within the area is significantly enhanced. This proactively disperses visitors to alleviate congestion, while at the same time contributing to regional revitalization by generating more spending opportunities.
