~ Spokane, WA- In the early hours of August 9th, Spokane police officers were called to the area of 800 W. Garland Ave for reports of a shooting. According to multiple 911 callers, a shooting had occurred and one person had been injured while the suspect fled the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, after receiving medical treatment, his condition was downgraded to non-life-threatening.
Gathering witness statements and video footage, as well as a description and possible identity of the suspect, officers were able to locate and apprehend him shortly after he fled on foot. The Major Crimes Unit was notified and responded to the scene.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Paul Maravilla and has been arrested for Assault 1st Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree. He is currently being held at Spokane County Jail.
While this incident is still under investigation, initial information suggests that there was an argument between the suspect and victim prior to the shooting. However, authorities have confirmed that this appears to be an isolated event and all involved parties have been identified. There is no ongoing threat to the community.
