FOLSOM, Calif., Aug. 12, 2025 ~ The U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC) and VentureFuel have announced the four companies selected for the first cohort of the Blueberry Boost Accelerator. This partnership aims to support innovative startups that use blueberries in their products, promoting the fruit as a versatile and healthy ingredient.

The Blueberry Boost Accelerator was launched earlier this year with the goal of fueling product innovation and elevating blueberries as a hero ingredient. The inaugural cohort showcases the potential of blueberries in various categories, from functional nutrition to indulgent desserts.

The four companies chosen for the 2025 Blueberry Boost Accelerator are Bonny Prebiotic Fiber Powder, Farmer Bob's "Beyond Berries™", Pluff, and Sorbatto's "Blue Cream". These startups were selected by a panel of blueberry industry leaders based on criteria such as market potential, unique value proposition, and team strength.

USHBC President Kasey Cronquist expressed excitement about working with these innovative brands to showcase the versatility and benefits of blueberries. He stated, "This cohort of inventive entrepreneurial brands is demonstrating how blueberries can add great taste, excitement and wellness benefits to products across categories."

The selected companies will now enter a nine-week accelerator program where they will receive one-on-one coaching from VentureFuel, expert sessions with industry leaders, peer roundtables, and support in developing marketing materials. The program will culminate in a live pitch competition at The Blueberry Convention in Seattle where the winning company will receive a grand prize of $20,000 and the runner-up will receive $10,000.

Founder and CEO of VentureFuel Fred Schonenberg highlighted how these startups are introducing blueberries to new consumers through exciting and unexpected products. He said, "These founders are creating products that deliver on what today's shoppers crave — flavor, function and fun — while unlocking new paths to commercial scale that benefit the entire blueberry category."
