Clinic Now Accepting Newly Eligible Patients Under Expanded Federal Program Aimed at Making Dental Care More Affordable for Millions of Canadians

LONDON, Ontario - Washingtoner -- LightHouse Dental London is proud to announce its continued participation in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), as the federal government rolls out a major expansion of the program. Beginning in May 2025, the CDCP will extend coverage to millions of additional Canadians aged 18 to 64 who meet eligibility requirements. As an approved CDCP provider, LightHouse Dental London welcomes newly qualified patients and help ensure that high-quality dental care is accessible and affordable for everyone in the community.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan, first introduced in 2023, was first rolled out to seniors aged 65 and over, children under 18, and individuals receiving the Disability Tax Credit. The new expansion marks a milestone in the plan's mission to provide dental coverage to low- and moderate-income Canadians who do not have access to private dental insurance. This next phase will open applications for all eligible adults aged 18 to 64, with coverage beginning as early as June 2025.

"At LightHouse Dental, we believe that every Canadian deserves access to quality dental care—regardless of income or insurance status," said Dr. Gorsht, lead dentist at LightHouse Dental London. "We fully support the expansion of the CDCP and are proud to play our part in delivering the essential oral health services that help people live healthier, more confident lives."

Expanded Access, Expanded Services

The expansion of the CDCP will allow individuals and families with an adjusted net household income of less than $90,000 to apply for coverage. Those earning under $70,000 will receive full coverage, while those in the $70,000–$89,999 range will qualify for partial coverage, based on a co-pay model. To be eligible, applicants must not have access to private dental insurance and must have filed their 2024 tax return.

Applications will open in a staggered rollout throughout May 2025:
  • May 1 – Adults aged 55–64
  • May 15 – Adults aged 18–34
  • May 29 – Adults aged 35–54
Patients who are approved can begin receiving treatment as early as June 2025. LightHouse Dental  is already accepting CDCP patients in London and will continue doing so as more Canadians become eligible under the expanded criteria.

Services covered under the CDCP include routine exams, x-rays, dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, fillings, extractions, root canals, complete and partial dentures, and emergency dental care. Advanced treatments such as crowns and certain surgical procedures may also be covered when pre-authorized.

As one of the few dental offices in London offering extended hours seven days a week, LightHouse Dental London is uniquely positioned to serve the influx of new CDCP patients, providing flexible appointment options and timely care. The clinic is conveniently located at 1850 Adelaide Street North and offers same-day emergency appointments, routine family dentistry, and full-service denture care.

Helping Patients Navigate Their Benefits

Navigating a new government program can feel confusing, especially for patients unfamiliar with how public coverage works. That's why the team at LightHouse Dental London is committed to helping patients understand the CDCP, assess their eligibility, and apply for benefits. The clinic's experienced staff can walk patients through the income verification process, help them complete their online application, and explain how much of their treatment will be covered based on their household income.

"We want to make it as easy as possible for patients to access care," said Amy, the office manager at LightHouse Dental London. "That means not just providing the dental services, but also supporting people in understanding the process, checking what's covered, and making sure they get the most out of their benefits. No one should have to delay treatment because of red tape or confusion."

Patients already enrolled in the program can also rely on LightHouse Dental London for CDCP-covered maintenance care and urgent procedures. From routine cleanings to emergency extractions or new dentures, the clinic ensures that every qualifying patient receives the attention they need—quickly, compassionately, and at little to no out-of-pocket cost.

Committed to Community Wellness

With over 3.4 million Canadians already approved for CDCP coverage and an estimated 9 million expected to qualify when the rollout is complete, the program represents a major public health advancement. Dental professionals across the country are stepping up to ensure the plan's success, and LightHouse Dental London is proud to be part of that effort locally.

"Dental health is essential to overall health, and we know that untreated oral problems can lead to much more serious issues," said Dr. Gorsht. "The CDCP is helping to close the gap for those who haven't been able to afford care in the past, and that's something we're passionate about. Whether it's a teenager who needs a cleaning or a senior who needs new dentures, we're here to help."
