~ Tacoma residents can learn about proposed changes to Pacific Avenue at a community open house on Oct. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Moore Branch of the Tacoma Public Library, 215 S. 56th St. A staff presentation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The event will focus on the draft Pacific Avenue Subarea Plan, a community-developed vision for growth, environmental review and public investment along the corridor. City staff will discuss proposed zoning changes, the Environmental Impact Statement and the public comment timeline.

The open house will also cover updates to the Tree and Landscape Code and off-street parking requirements, as well as a $1.6 million participatory budgeting process for District 5.
Mayor Anders Ibsen said the plan aims to address longstanding underinvestment in Tacoma's Eastside by supporting more housing, trees and safer streets.
Light refreshments and Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese language services will be available. Residents can request materials in Russian, Ukrainian, Tagalog, Samoan, Khmer or simplified Chinese by emailing planning@tacoma.gov. Further event details are available on the city's website.
