City of Tacoma Partners With Funded Shelter Providers to Expand Tacoma’s Shelter Capacity This Winter by 170 Beds

~ The City of Tacoma has partnered with funded shelter providers to expand the city's shelter capacity for the 2023-2024 winter weather season. This effort has resulted in an additional 170 beds being made available to unsheltered individuals.

Starting November 15, 2023, Tacoma Rescue Mission will operate a 50-bed shelter at Holy Rosary Church until the end of March 2024. During acute inclement weather events, such as when the forecast is for 35 degrees with wind/rain or 32 degrees and colder, an additional 120 beds will be made available. This includes 20 beds at Holy Rosary Church, 80 beds at Catholic Community Services' Nativity House (702 South 14th Street), and 20 overflow beds for young adults 18-24 years of age at Valeo Vocation's Beacon Young Adult Shelter (415 South 13th Street).
