~ After a months-long investigation involving multiple agencies, a local man has been arrested on charges of sex trafficking and first-degree rape. Taurean D. Jones, 38, was taken into custody by members of the Spokane Police Department's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) on July 30th, 2025.
The investigation began in January of this year when detectives with SIU received a report from the State of Idaho regarding an allegation of sex trafficking involving a young juvenile teenager. As detectives delved deeper into the case, it became clear that Jones had not only paid the victim for sex himself but had also arranged for others to do so.
Assistance from the FBI was enlisted as the investigation progressed and evidence was uncovered that Jones had used drugs and alcohol to coerce sexual acts from the victim. The victim reported being threatened with a firearm and physically forced to engage in sexual acts with Jones over a period of several months.
Further investigation led detectives to a local business where it is alleged that some of the sexual acts took place. During their search, detectives also discovered a second victim. After taking Jones into custody, they executed multiple search warrants on his vehicle and associated business downtown. A loaded firearm and cocaine were found in Jones' vehicle, with the firearm being identified as stolen.

Jones has been booked into Spokane County Jail on multiple charges including promoting commercial sexual abuse of a minor, commercial sexual abuse of a minor, first-degree rape, second-degree rape, third-degree rape of a child, possession of a controlled substance for distribution to a minor, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, indecent exposure, and possession of stolen firearms.
The collaborative efforts of all involved agencies have resulted in justice for the victims in this terrible ordeal. Counselors and child advocacy groups are currently working with the victims to provide support and assistance. The National Human Trafficking Hotline website or hotline (1-888-373-8888) are available for anyone who may be a victim of trafficking or knows someone who is.
Photos related to the case have been released by the police department, showing Jones and the locations involved in the investigation. This serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting any suspicious activity and working together to combat human trafficking.
