Spokane: Male Poses as 'ServPro' Employee in Fire Affected Neighborhood

~ Spokane police officers responded to a call on August 26th, 2026 in the neighborhood near N. Nine Mile Rd and N. Royal Dr. A homeowner had reported a suspicious male attempting to open their door.

According to Officer T. Leming, PIO, the homeowner stated that the male arrived in an older maroon pickup truck and was wearing a "ServPro" vest. The male was caught on the homeowner's Ring camera trying the doorknob before ringing the doorbell. He then lingered in the area for 20 to 30 minutes and may have taken photographs of the home before leaving.

Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the suspicious male is not currently employed by ServPro in Spokane or Coeur d'Alene. The homeowner also stated that they were not expecting anyone at their door.

The Spokane Police Department is urging the public to be aware of this incident, especially with concerns of individuals taking advantage of those affected by recent fires in the community. They are asking anyone who observes suspicious activity to contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233 and report it immediately.

Photos related to this incident have been released by authorities, including one of the suspect's maroon pickup truck and two photos captured by the Ring camera. The police department is asking for anyone with information about this incident or who may recognize the suspect to come forward and assist with their investigation.
