Spokane: Flags Lowered for Former Secretary of State Ralph Munro

~ Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered all flags at City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in honor of former Secretary of State Ralph Davies Munro, following Governor Bob Ferguson's directive for state and U.S. flags to be lowered at all state agency facilities. The decision was made to remember and pay tribute to Munro, who passed away on March 20, 2025.

According to Erin Hut, Communications Director for the city, Mayor Brown described Munro as a "statesman and an exemplary public servant." She also shared her personal connection with him, having served with him during her time in the legislature. Mayor Brown fondly remembers Munro whenever bagpipes are played at official events.

A memorial service for Secretary Munro will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m. at the Washington State Capitol Legislative Building Rotunda. The community is invited to attend and pay their respects to the late Secretary of State.
