US Aluminum Castings (USAC) announces the installation and implementation of a new Sinto FDNX automated flaskless molding machine into its sand foundry production line.

WENATCHEE, Wash. - Washingtoner -- US Aluminum Castings (USAC) announces the installation and implementation of a new Sinto FDNX automated flaskless molding machine into its sand foundry production line. This automated process provides increased efficiency, quicker setups, more castings per hour, less process times and more importantly a re-usable framework for making castings.

What is an Automated, Flaskless Machine? The traditional aluminum casting method is a mold made in two halves, known as the cope and drag, and is contained within a "flask". The molding sand is packed into the flask, and the pattern is placed in the center of the flask. The mold is then closed, and the molten metal is poured into the mold.

The flaskless casting method on the other hand, eliminates the need for the flasks and streamlines the casting process. The molding sand is compacted within a hydraulically held reusable mold frame then moved to casting where the molten metal is poured directly into the mold providing uniform, high density molds at higher production outputs. Thus, a more streamlined approach to mold making and aluminum casting production.

The new FDNX supports USAC's dramatic growth and demand in the aerospace and transportation sectors and is providing an increase in production thruput from the traditional cope and drag production processes. With these efficiencies and improvements, USAC is looking to implement additional high-speed machines over the next few years and moving even more casting to this new process in support of its customers' growing demands.

USAC is excited about this addition and looking forward to producing even more high precision aluminum castings right here in the USA!
