Identity Defined Security Alliance
Encourages community to share best practices for securing digital identities using #BeIdentitySmart

DENVER - Washingtoner -- The Identity Defined Security Alliance (IDSA), a nonprofit that provides vendor-neutral resources to help organizations reduce the risk of a breach by combining identity and security strategies, is providing a wealth of free resources for IT and cybersecurity professionals to access during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. As the trusted source for all things identity, the IDSA provides vendor-neutral education, best practices and resources to help organizations minimize risk. The resource page will be continuously updated throughout the month, providing informative and valuable assets.

Every October, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) join forces with partners to stress the importance of staying safe online. This year's Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme, See Yourself in Cyber, will focus on four key actions everyone should take to improve security, some of which relate directly to identity. As part of its commitment to raise awareness about the importance of securing digital identities and deploying identity-centric security strategies, the IDSA is hosting several webinars featuring identity and security experts including:
  • October 5, 2022, 9:00am PT/12:00pm ET: A Guide to Securing Cloud Access with CAEP, presented by the IDSA and OpenID Foundation.
  • October 13, 2022, 9:00am PT/12:00pm ET: Identity as the First Line of Digital Defense for Cybersecurity, presented by Saviynt
  • October 27, 2022, 9:00am PT/12:00pm ET: Unsolved Mysteries, presented by SecZetta

"As we highlighted during Identity Management Day, identity security is everyone's responsibility," stated Julie Smith, Executive Director, IDSA. "It is up to us all—enterprise leaders, consumers, employees, vendors, and partners—to recognize the role we have to play in protecting identities and data. While October may be the month we recognize cybersecurity awareness, it is a year-long task. To #BeCyberSmart, you must #BeIdentitySmart, so let's all use this time as a reminder to play our part in keeping our digital identities safe. We invite all organizations to join us in sharing best practices during October, by posting advice to social media and make sure to use and follow #BeIdentitySmart."
