Start-Up Business Empowerment Panel Discussion on April 14

--Special Surprise Guest to Moderate Panel Discussion--


TACOMA, Wash. -- In celebration of the success and future of start-up businesses in Tacoma, the City of Tacoma's Community & Economic Development Department and Minority Business Development Agency are hosting a Start-Up Business Empowerment Panel Discussion on April 14, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This virtual event will be moderated by a special surprise guest.

Prominent local start-up entrepreneurs will discuss the steps they took to achieve business success in Tacoma, as well as the resources and funding available for start-up businesses through the City of Tacoma and the Minority Business Development Agency.

"As we continue to take incremental steps toward economic recovery, we want to help ensure that our entrepreneurs have what they need to achieve their start-up ambitions," said Mayor Victoria Woodards. "If you're thinking about launching a start-up in Tacoma, or you're looking to take things to the next level, the City of Tacoma's Community and Economic Development Department is ready to have those conversations and can connect you to the resources you need."

While this event is free to attend and open to all, pre-registration at startupbe.eventbrite.com is required.

The Community & Economic Development Department's Business Empowerment Series is designed to bolster the economic strength of Tacoma's diverse entrepreneurial environment and the support and opportunities for historically underrepresented communities to start their own business.

Future installments in the series that are currently in development at this time include:
  • Asian and Pacific Islander-Owned Business Empowerment Panel (May 2021, in conjunction with Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month)
  • Latinx-Owned Business Empowerment Panel (September 2021, in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month)
