Tuesday, March 2, 7:30 PM, units from the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) and an auto aid engine company from Fire District 9 were dispatched to the 2100 block of West Weile Avenue for a residential structure fire. 911 callers reported shrubs adjacent to the home on fire with flames climbing the exterior of the home to the eves of the roof and deck. SFD and District 9 crews arrived within minutes, quickly extinguishing the fire. Damage was contained to the exterior of the residence, a portion of the attic, and a bathroom inside the home.

No one was injured in the fire and the family had escaped without assistance. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit.
