Spokane: Suspect in Shooting that Took the Life of a 13-year-old Identified

~ Detectives from the Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit (MCU) have identified the suspect in the tragic shooting that claimed the life of 13-year-old Gavin Looper. According to Officer Daniel Strassenberg, Public Information Officer, the incident occurred in the early hours of January 25th on East Heroy Avenue.

The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Glen Dylan Burkey, who is described as 5'8" and approximately 210 pounds with green eyes. Based on evidence gathered by detectives, it appears that this was not a random act of violence.

Probable cause has been established to arrest Burkey for second-degree murder, drive-by shooting, and second-degree assault. However, authorities are warning the public that Burkey should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on Burkey's whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately. Non-emergency information can also be reported to Crime Check at 509.456.2233, referencing case number 2025-20016661.

A photo of Glen Burkey has been released by authorities in hopes of aiding in his capture. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information related to this case.
