~ On the evening of May 16th, 2024, officers from the Spokane Police Department's Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) made an arrest in the downtown core for drug-related crimes. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Ashley G. Giles, was taken into custody for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute in the area of 2nd and Division.
According to police spokesperson Officer Daniel Strassenberg, Giles has a lengthy history with law enforcement, including multiple prior arrests for drug offenses. She is currently being held at the Spokane County Jail and her vehicle used during the drug transaction has been seized.

Giles is a convicted felon with previous convictions for Possession of a Controlled Substance and 1st Degree Rendering Criminal Assistance. The Spokane Police Department remains committed to targeting drug and related crimes that continue to plague the community.
In light of the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration of Expo '74, extra police staffing has been implemented in the downtown core to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all. This effort is part of the department's ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain public safety in the city.
