~ Over the Fourth of July weekend, the Spokane Fire Department's Special Investigation Unit reported three significant fires caused by fireworks, resulting in thousands of dollars in damage. According to Justin de Ruyter, Spokane Fire PIO, the fires occurred at the 2900 block of East Diamond Avenue, Holy Names Court, and the 2000 block of West 10th Avenue.

In response to these incidents, four Deputy Fire Marshals and two patrol units from the Spokane Police Department were dedicated to addressing the illegal use of fireworks in the city on July 4, 2024. These patrols worked late into the night, responding to complaints and contacting violators. As a result, 25 civil infractions were issued and confiscated fireworks were rendered unusable.
