~ Spokane, WA - The annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count, organized by the Spokane Regional Continuum of Care (CoC), is set to take place from January 27 to February 2, 2026. This nationwide event aims to identify and better serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
According to Erin Hut, Communications Director for the CoC, the information collected during the PIT Count will be sent to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Washington State Department of Commerce. This data will provide a snapshot of both sheltered and unsheltered homelessness in Spokane County.

Mayor Lisa Brown emphasized the importance of this count in addressing housing and homelessness in Spokane. She stated that while it may not be a comprehensive report, it provides crucial information that informs policy decisions and helps secure funding for necessary resources.
The City of Spokane administers the count, but it relies on volunteers to survey people experiencing homelessness throughout Spokane County. The CoC is currently seeking volunteers for this year's count and interested individuals can sign up on their website. All volunteers are required to attend a training session before participating in the count.
