Award-Winning Filmmaker Maikaru Launches Mainasty Press to Adapt Massive Catalog of Original Screenplays into a 21-Novel, "Studio-Quality" Literary Universe.
SEATTLE - Washingtoner -- Mainasty Press is proud to announce its official launch and its flagship literary project: the release of 21 contemporary romance novels over the next 21 months. Founded by award-winning indie filmmaker and director Maikaru, the press aims to bridge the gap between cinema and literature by adapting a massive catalog of original screenplays into a cohesive, high-stakes literary universe.
The initiative begins on June 2, 2026, with the publication of The Lost Years, a cinematic romance set against the atmospheric backdrop of Seattle. Adapted from an original screenplay, the novel brings a "studio-quality" visual intensity to the page, mirroring the emotional depth found in Maikaru's previous film work, including the award-winning PBS documentary Maikaru.
"This project is the realization of a vision to bring high-concept, visual narratives directly to the reader," says Maikaru. "By applying a disciplined production mindset to independent publishing, we are proving that a single creator can build a world as vast as any Hollywood studio".
