About Stan Lewis:

Stan, the Man, the hip hit record man, as described by blues artist Samuel John "Lightnin'" Hopkins on some of his recordings, was an integral part of blues and R&B music. Lewis initially formed Jewel Records in his hometown, Shreveport, La., in 1963. According to folklore, he named his company after a chain of grocery stores in Chicago, which music buffs noticed getting screentime in one of the car chases in the film, "The Blues Brothers." Lewis was born on July 5, 1927, and died on July 15, 2018.
