~ Spokane, WA- On the evening of July 30th, 2024, Spokane Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 5100 N Crestline. According to multiple 911 calls, a male had fired a shotgun at another individual before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers quickly located a female who reported that she had been shot at by the suspect. Fortunately, she was able to avoid being hit by ducking out of the way. The suspect then drove away from the scene.

Limited information was initially provided to officers regarding the motive for the shooting. However, they were able to obtain the name and vehicle information of the suspect. A spent shotgun shell was also found at the location where the shooting occurred. Nearby residents also reported that their home had been struck by gunfire.

After identifying the owner of the vehicle, officers located it in the area of 4500 E Frederick Ave around 6pm. Due to safety concerns, multiple specialty units including SWAT, Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF), Hostage Negotiators (HNT), and SPD Air Support Unit were called in to assist as it was believed that the suspect was still inside a nearby residence.

Despite several hours of attempts by HNT to establish contact with the suspect, they were unsuccessful. Officers also spoke with multiple individuals at the location in an effort to gather more information about how to reach him but were unable to do so. Communication efforts continued throughout the night using PA systems.

Finally, just before 1am, officers were able to make contact with Randall S. Bushell (58) on his property and take him into custody without incident. He has since been arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail on charges including five counts of first-degree assault, drive-by shooting, and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

It has been revealed that Bushell has an extensive criminal history with a prior felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Spokane Police Department.
