~ Tacoma, Washington - The City of Tacoma's Environmental Services Department has announced a transition of its EnviroHouse programming in order to reach a wider audience and provide more equitable access to information. This decision was made after receiving feedback from the community and conducting a thorough review of its programs.
The department is committed to promoting environmental sustainability education and believes that by integrating EnviroHouse programming into the City's broader community outreach and engagement efforts, it will be able to reach a more diverse audience. This new approach will also utilize digital platforms to offer flexible learning opportunities, ensuring that valuable information on environmentally sustainable practices is effectively delivered.

As part of this transition, the physical EnviroHouse location will be closing on December 22, 2024. However, the City encourages community members to share their feedback on past EnviroHouse programming in order to shape future environmental sustainability education efforts.
This move will allow for a more strategic allocation of resources towards addressing other community needs. It is estimated that this transition will result in approximately $400,000 in savings from utility funds.
Maria Lee, Media & Communications representative for the City of Tacoma, can be contacted for further information at maria.lee@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 591-2054. The City looks forward to continuing its commitment to environmental sustainability education through this transition and hopes to engage with a wider audience in the future.
