~ A motorcyclist was arrested on July 31st, 2024 after fleeing from a traffic stop and crashing his vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 6:46pm in the area of Indiana and Perry, when a SPD Patrol Sergeant noticed the motorcycle had an expired vehicle registration.
According to Officer Daniel Strassenberg, the Public Information Officer for the Spokane Police Department, the officer attempted to make a traffic stop but the motorcycle fled. Due to safety concerns, the Sergeant did not pursue the vehicle. However, the male operating the motorcycle lost control while driving at a high rate of speed and crashed a short distance away.
The male was then transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Upon learning his identity, it was discovered that he was wanted for a felony domestic violence incident that had taken place two weeks prior.

On July 17th, officers responded to a call from a female who reported being assaulted in the area of 900 E Queen. The victim informed SPD that she had been burned by her boyfriend during an altercation. Officers observed burn injuries on her face which were consistent with her statement. It was later revealed that she had a Domestic Violence Protection Order against her boyfriend, prohibiting him from being around her.
The suspect had left before officers arrived and could not be located at that time. However, charging documents were completed and forwarded to court. After receiving treatment at a local hospital for his injuries from the crash, Brandon L. Biles (38) was taken into custody.
Biles was transported to Spokane County Jail where he was booked for felony violation of a Domestic Violence Protection Order as well as two counts of 4th Degree Assault- Domestic Violence. Additional charges are expected in relation to his actions during the traffic stop.
Biles made his first court appearance this afternoon where his bond was set at $5,000. Photos related to this incident have also been released by SPD for public viewing.
