~ Spokane, WA- On May 8th, 2024 at approximately 1:23 p.m., Spokane Police officers were dispatched to the area of 2900 S Ray Street in response to a reported shooting. According to the victim, who called 911, they had been shot in the head. Witnesses also made additional calls to 911 after the incident occurred.
Upon arrival, officers provided aid to the victim until medical personnel arrived. The victim's vehicle had sustained damage with the driver's side window being shot out. A description of the suspect vehicle was given to responding officers.
Just twelve minutes after the initial call, a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses and the victim was spotted in the area of Indiana and Hamilton. Responding officers stopped the vehicle and detained several occupants for questioning.

After interviewing witnesses, one of the occupants was arrested for their involvement in the shooting. It was determined that a pellet or BB gun was used during the incident which appears to be a result of road rage. The suspect, identified as Alexander I. Nayes (30), was charged with 2nd Degree Assault and taken into custody at Spokane County Jail.
The suspect's vehicle was seized as evidence in connection with the crime. The male victim sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Spokane Police Department.
