Spokane: SPD investigating fatal vehicle collision involving a motorcycle

~ At approximately 2:30pm on August 29th, 2024, a vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Sprague and Freya in Spokane. The incident involved a motorcycle and a semi-truck, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. Officer Daniel Strassenberg of the Public Information Office confirmed that officers arrived at the scene and immediately closed down the intersection.

Tragically, the motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and despite receiving emergency medical aid on site, they did not survive. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office at a later time.

The other driver involved in the collision has been contacted by authorities. The Spokane Police Department's Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has been called in to investigate the incident. As a result, the area around the intersection will remain closed temporarily while investigators process the scene.
