~ At 11:53am on October 1st, 2024, a call was made to 911 reporting a student with a gun at a local school on 500 West 4th Avenue. According to the Public Information Office of Officer Daniel Strassenberg, staff at the school informed authorities that the suspect was uncooperative and they were unable to speak freely with the call taker.
The staff also provided information that the suspect had displayed the gun to another student earlier in the day. In response, officers were dispatched and arrived at the scene within two minutes. They detained a 15-year-old male in the school's office without incident.

Upon searching the suspect, officers found a realistic looking BB gun in his waistband. The juvenile was then arrested for Possessing Dangerous Weapons on School Facilities and taken into custody without further issue. He was later booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
The quick response and efficient handling of this potentially dangerous situation by Officer Strassenberg and his team is commendable. The safety of students and staff at the local school was ensured thanks to their swift actions.
